Charles H. Thomas, 88, of Midland, Texas passed away October 21, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Chuck was born on January 10, 1935 to Owen and Louise Thomas in Tampa, Florida. He had one older brother, Bill Thomas. Owen managed several Woolworth five-and-dime stores and was eventually transferred to Hampton, Virginia. Chuck attended Hampton High School then went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia.
After graduation Chuck ventured down to the West Indies where he was a crew member for a tourist sailboat company and sailed passengers around the Caribbean. This is where his life changed forever after meeting Allen K. “Moose” and Melba Trobaugh of Midland, Texas on one of the boats. Chuck then moved to Midland and was introduced to the world of oil and gas where he had a long and successful career as a consulting geologist for over 50 years.
Chuck had known his wife, Christine A. Anas when the two where in high school but never dated. While visiting his parents after moving to Texas he began the courtship, then married Chris and she too became a Texan! They had 3 children Shannon, Charlie and Zack.
Chuck and Chris shared a passion for hunting and fishing together. The family spent endless summers in Nags Head, North Carolina and later in life their favorite fly fishing spot was Laguna Madre. Chris and Chuck devoted their time and hearts to the Midland Cerebral Palsy Center now (Midland Children’s Rehabilitation) where their son received many years of physical therapy and love.
Charles was predeceased by his parents Owen and Louise Thomas and brother, Bill Thomas. Survived by his wife, Chris Thomas, daughter Shannon Thomas Lenisa and Claudio Lenisa, their children, Bella Lenisa (26), Dante Lenisa (27), son Charlie Thomas and Elizabeth, their children Jake and Dean Thomas (13), and their youngest son Zack Thomas.
The family will hold a private service. Reception and condolences will be held at the home of Chris Thomas, Tuesday, October 24th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for beloved friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center or any Alzheimer’s Charity Organization.
