Charles E. “Chuck” Henry, 76 of Midland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. A visitation will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. Midland. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Branch at npw, 3800 N. Big Spring St. A graveside service will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Chuck was born to Howard and Ann Henry in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 9, 1947. He was raised in Dillonvale, Ohio where he enjoyed spending time with friends and cousins walking along the creek, shooting guns and playing baseball. He had a passion for building model airplanes and knew he wanted to be a pilot from the age of 5. After receiving a degree in aerospace technology from Kent State University in 1970, Chuck entered the U.S. Air Force serving as an instructor pilot/flight evaluator. His commercial flying career started in 1977, eventually logging over 17,000 hours flying time in numerous types of aircraft. He ended his 42-year flying career as a FedEx A300 Airbus Captain. Chuck loved God, Family and his Country.
Chuck is survived by his wife Laurel, son Charles Dylan Henry, daughter Stephanie Laurel Henry, daughter Angela Rene Robertson (Shad) and grandchildren, Karley Nicole Powell (Jay), and Braden Shad Robertson (Sophie), and sister Judy Ann Cermak (Joe).
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ann Henry.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles D. Henry, John Bumpers, Mark Tripp, John Girdzus, Rick Patterson, and Steve Smith.
