Charlene Ashcraft Neithercutt passed away peacefully on February 21, 2016. She was born in Carlsbad, NM on August 11, 1933 and later moved with her parents, Charles and Velma Buce Ashcraft, to Hobbs, NM. At Hobbs High School, Charlene was a Hobbs Eagle band majorette and a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated in 1951.Charlene’s expertise in Oil and Gas Industry began in Hobbs during the 1950’s. Her career took her from Hobbs to Midland, then to Dallas and back to Midland. She retired from Concho Resources, Inc. in 2013.Charlene was predeceased by her parents; her son, Jeff; and her husband, George Delmer Neithercutt. She and Delmer had reconnected at a high school class reunion in 1989 and thus began what she referred to as the best part of her life. The two married in October of 1993 and shared many adventures until his death in 2010.Charlene is survived by her sister, Gwen Watson of Midland; step-daughters, Kaprice (Roger) Pearson of Midland and Kim (Gary) Pearson of Lakewood, CO; cousins, Ruth Flynn of Newport, MI and Richard Couch of San Francisco, CA; longtime friends, Patti Harrell and Ruby Malone; numerous nieces and nephews; and a Greenie loving dog, Booger.A graveside service will be held at a later date in Hobbs, NM.
