Celia Mary Pender (Pookie), 84, of Midland passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jan Reed of St. Luke’s Methodist Church officiating. Family visitation will be held after the service at the funeral home. Private family interment will follow.Celia was born in Monahans, Texas to Charles and Celia Morgette on June 16, 1932. She was raised in Kermit, Texas where she graduated from high school in 1950 and caught the eye of a young Jal NM man, Barry Pender. They were married for 66 years on November 24. Celia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Phillip, Charles, Ralph, C.B., and Fred; sister Jessie May. She is survived by her loving husband Barry Pender of Midland; three sons Dan (Teri) Pender of Midland, Dennis Pender of Midland, and David (Cindy) Pender of The Woodlands; grandchildren Daniel (Jennifer) Pender of Lantana, Alan (Lane) Pender of Dallas, Lyndsay (Tyler) Kelly of Fort Worth, and Brandon Pender of The Woodlands; great grandsons Layne, Landon and Lance Pender of Lantana and a great granddaughter Pender to be born in March; sister Janie Barnes of Odessa; brother Jimmy Morgette of Greenwood; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.Celia was always the life of the party and loved everyone who knew her. Her passion was to help people and she showed this by teaching Sunday School, working at senior citizen organizations and she was always available to care for her family and friends. She shared the love of golf and fishing with her husband and boys. She will be missed immensely.The family thanks her many caregivers at Manor Park and Midland Memorial Hospital.
