Graveside funeral services for Cecil V. Riordan, 92, of Big Spring, will be at 10:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2003, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael King, pastor of St. Stephens A.M.E. of Pittsburg, Texas, officiating. Mr. Riordan passed away on Friday morning, May 2, 2003, at 3:20 AM following a short illness. He was born October 11, 1910 to William Claude and Myrtle Crites Riordan in Bangs, Texas. He married Christine Vogel on May 29, 1935 in Brownwood, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2001. Mr. Riordan moved to Big Spring from Mineral Wells in 1959. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was a 32 Mason. Active in politics, he served as chairman of the Democratic Party for Howard County. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Priscilla Corbet and her husband, Tad, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Beverly Miller and her husband, Tip, of Big Spring; one son, Stephen Paul Riordan of Big Spring; one grandson, Bradley Garrison, his wife, Tammy and daughter, Brittney of Big Spring. Also Stan and Jessica Miller, Ronnie Miller, Amy Miller and Jeremy Miller; one sister, Jewell Matthews of Carlsbad, New Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pet dog, Gonzo. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Don, Dub and Gene Riordan and one sister, Joyce Hamblin.
