Cecil was born on December 20, 1936, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Bert Gardner Sain, and Mina Juanita Maxey Sain. Cecil grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and also in Eldorado, Oklahoma where he lived with his grandparents.
In 1954 he joined the US Air Force. In 1955, at 18 years old, Cecil married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Rhoads, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Soon after getting married, Cecil was deployed to Japan for a year and a half. Upon his return to the States, he and Dorothy moved to Everett, Washington, where Cecil was stationed at Paine Air Force Base for a year and a half. While there, at age 20, as an Airman First Class of the 321st Fighter Interceptor Squadron’s Communications Shop, Cecil graduated at the top of his class at the Non-Commissioned Officers Preparatory School at McChord Air Force Base. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Cecil and Dorothy moved to Midland, Texas.
In 1958, Cecil and Dorothy’s son, Rick, was born. In 1959, their daughter, Nancy, was born. He loved being with his family, and drove many miles through New Mexico and Arizona taking the family on vacations, stopping at every Souvenir shop they saw. Many weekends in the summer were spent at a cabin at Lake Colorado City, fishing and swimming. Every year he decorated Rick and Nancy’s bicycles for the annual Fourth of July Kids’ Parade. He worked hard to provide a toy store worth of Christmas presents under the tree every year.
While in Midland, Cecil worked for C. A. Gray Plumbing, then Abbott Building Company. He became a Territory Manager for Lennox Industries. While working at Lennox he won many awards, and trips. He and Dorothy traveled to New Orleans several times, Canada, Switzerland, and many other places. A favorite was Mustang Island, TX.
Cecil bought a Lennox Dealership, called Air Dynamics, Inc., in San Angelo, in 1985. They lived at Lake Nasworthy, where their grandsons, Jared and Josh, enjoyed spending time with them. Cecil and Dorothy owned and operated Air Dynamics, Inc., working side by side until 2017, when they retired at age 80.
Cecil was well respected in both Midland and San Angelo, where he served on many boards, including Midland First Assembly of God Church.
Cecil loved the Lord and people. He was a favorite at Legacy Ranch Memory Care where he spent his last year.
