Cecelia “Cedie” McClure Proctor, 74 of Midland, TX passed away peacefully on 12/27/2024. She was born and raised in Midland, TX. Her family moved to Alpine, TX when she was 13 and she graduated from Alpine High School. She later settled in Midland with her family where she later met her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Proctor. They built a life together with their four children, Brent, Melissa, Jennifer and Katie in Greenwood. They were involved in Boy Scouts with Brent and Midland United Girls Softball with Melissa, Jennifer, and Katie. When they were not spending time at the Boy Scout Ranch or the softball fields they loved to take their family camping.
After the passing of her husband, Cedie enjoyed her traveling adventures with her family. Whether it was sitting in Savannah, GA with her sister watching the ships pass by or visiting every zoo and aquarium in the State of Texas she loved all the places her adventures took her with her family. She collected momentums from every place so she could remember each trip.
If her family had to describe her, they would probably mention her strength, her ability to make a stranger a friend, and her love affair with John Wayne. Her love for John Wayne was so great that she passed it to some of her children and grandchildren. The others who did not share her love of John Wayne didn’t know what they were missing.
She had many gifts. A few were painting ceramics, making jewelry, and angel pins, but her greatest gift was she loved with her whole heart. There was never a stranger she met that she didn’t talk to and tell them her life story. She would start conversations in the grocery store line and would make a connection. To her children and grandchildren’s embarrassment she would tell everyone all about them because her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She spent her life loving her family.
Cedie filled her life with making memories with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. From football games, dancing recitals, basketball games, looking at every piece of artwork that her grandchildren drew, she was so proud of them. She shared special bonds with all her children and grandchildren. Each one of them have a piece of her to carry with them.
She was the glue for our family. In our darkest moments she was there giving us love, hope, comfort, and support. She helped her family pick up the pieces after losing her husband and the most amazing father a child could have. Her strength and faith never wavered. She would tell her family everything is going to be okay and it will always work out. We will remember her and carry her with us always.
One of the last conversations she had with her grandchildren was to remember her when they are outside and the sun is shining on their faces. Even though our hearts are heavy she is in Heaven with her Bob watching over us.
Cedie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Proctor, her parents Harold and Frankie Doris McClure, and her brother Roderick “Roddey” McClure. She is survived by her children Brent and Ellie Arnett, Melissa Insco, Jennifer and Trey Roye, and Katherine “Katie” Proctor; her most beloved grandchildren Wade and Hunter Insco, Taylea and Emerson “Emmie” Proctor, Russell and AJ Roye, and Lily and Aurora Anderson; her brother Chip McClure, sister Donna McClure Johnson, sister in law Anita Thurman, and her nieces and nephews.
