Cathy Chappell Binns, 54, of Midland passed away on Saturday evening, September 6, 2014 after over 20 years of battling rheumatoid arthritis and associated complications. She was born on September 15, 1959 in Abilene, Texas. Cathy was very active in her youth and excelled at sports, especially gymnastics, and represented Cooper High School in Abilene at the State level. After graduating high school, Cathy attended McMurry University and received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her heart of gold and dedication to her students’ education made her an incredible teacher. Cathy has left a tremendous legacy behind within all of her pupils, peers, friends, and family. A devout Christian woman, Cathy always made sure that the light of her Lord and Savior was visible through her. She beamed of love, happiness, and faith constantly through her large smile and kind eyes. Her daughter, Aimee Louise, was her absolute greatest love and accomplishment. Cathy was an incredible and loving mother to her daughter, Aimee, and she was loved and adored by her parents, siblings and friends.Cathy is survived by her daughter, Aimee Louise Herman and her fiancé, Jason Patterson; brothers, John Chappell, and his wife, Carol, and James Chappell; mother, Phyllis Chappell; nephews, William Gray Chappell, Chelsea Lee Chappell, Cole Hutcheson, Cutter Hutcheson, Coby Hutcheson and his wife, Jenny, and their child, Cason Hutcheson; her husband, John Binns and numerous friends.She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gray Chappell, and brother, Bobby Chappell.The family invites friends and family to give their condolences at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.
