Catherine Marcelle Pringle Wendland

Catherine Marcelle Pringle Wendland, 71, of Big Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, in the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Catherine, affectionately known as “Big Cat” or “Cathy,” was born on September 1, 1954, in Midland, Texas, to Floyd Edgar Pringle and Ethel Ann La Londe Pringle. Cathy graduated from Big Spring High School in 1972 and made her way to Dallas upon graduation.  On January 2, 1982, she married the love of her life, Wendt Wendland, in Dallas, Texas. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. They made their home in Coppell, Texas, for nine years before returning to Catherine’s hometown of Big Spring, where they raised their three daughters.

Above all else, Big Cat treasured her family. She possessed a remarkable gift for encouragement, often sharing her love through handwritten letters, journals, thoughtful notes, and heartfelt text messages. She found great joy in serving others and faithfully opened her home and heart to those in need. Whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or a place to stay, Catherine had a unique ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. Catherine sought to live out the words of Micah 6:8, “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” She found strength and hope in Isaiah 40:31, trusting that those who hope in the Lord “will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles.” She also cherished Psalm 1, striving to be rooted in God’s truth and to bear fruit through a life of faithful service to others.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Wendt Wendland; her daughters, Cat Vizcaino and husband Matt of Dallas, Texas, Christie Larson of Midland, Texas, and MaLeah Edmondson and husband Mark of San Angelo, Texas; and her nine beloved grandchildren: Ian, Jude, and Olivia Vizcaino; Isaiah, Noah, and Timothy Ontiveros; and Diego, Elliana, and Julian Arguello.

She is also survived by her sister, Wanda Shoemake and husband Dave; brother in-law, Wes Wendland and wife LeeAnn Wendland; her brother, Mike Hall and wife Lori; her nephew, Zac Hall and wife Kelley; her great-nephew, Christian Hall; her great-niece, Brooklyn Hall; numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Edgar Pringle and Ethel Ann La Londe Pringle; her brother, Charles Pringle; and her sister, Barbara Hall; mother-in-law Billye Wendland, father-in-law Weldon Wendland, and sister-in-law Wren Tremblay.
