Catherine Mitchell, 93, of Midland passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 3:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Kermit, Texas on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10:00am with Reverend Dudley Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.Catherine was born on January 15, 1923 to Christopher and Cora Lucille Kitsos in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married the love of her life, George Houston Mitchell, on August 24, 1941. Together they raised two sons, George P. Mitchell II and Chris D. Mitchell, and two daughters, Carol Huffman and Caren Bizzell. Catherine loved God, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and always put them first. She enjoyed spending her time playing bridge, painting, sewing, shopping, and keeping up with the latest fashions. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family. Catherine touched many lives with her faith in Jesus and she was truly a servant of the Lord. Her faith carried her through many trials and tribulations with the biggest test when she lost not one, but both, of her daughters in which she loved dearly. Catherine was most definitely a caregiver and homemaker. She provided for her family in the warmest and deepest way possible, never complaining of everyday tasks that go along with being a wife and mother.She is survived by her sons, George P. Mitchell II (Sandra) and Chris Mitchell (Cheryl); granddaughters, Catherine Huffman, Cari Heatly (John Tom), Christi Chapman (Clint), Callie Moore (Josh), and Chaney Monan (Charlie); great-grandchildren, Caroline, Cole, and Clay Chapman, Chloé Anderson, and Huffman and Houston Heatley; son-in-law, Don Bizzell; and numerous family and friends.She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Houston Mitchell; parents, Christopher and Cora Kitsos; and daughters, Carol Huffman and Caren Bizzell.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Cowden Cottage at Manor Park; the 7th floor (Oncology) at Midland Memorial Hospital; and Hospice Midland.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice Midland, 911 West Texas Ave., Midland, Texas 79701.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
