Casey Michael Smith, 41 of Midland passed away on Sunday, December 28^th. Services will be held at 3:30 PM Monday, January 5th at Midland County Horseshoe.

Casey was born on May 24, 1984 in Midland Texas to Mike Smith and Sabrina Edwards. Casey graduated from Midland High School in 2002 and established his residence in Midland. Casey worked in the environmental industry until 2006 when he ventured out on his own to pursue his passion, hunting. He started True Grit Big Game Hunting and his career as a Professional Hunting Guide began. You will never meet another guide that with the heart and passion for hunting that Casey had. In 2013 Casey bought his first jag of Corriente cows which grew overtime, making him a full-time cattle rancher as well. Casey also grew his exotic ranch, Ranchito Chapulin (The Grasshopper), which he took so much pride in. Casey enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his family and friends. His greatest joy in life came on July 31, 2012, when his one and only daughter Harper was born. He was terrified at the thought of having a little girl, only to realize that his little girl could outdo any boy around. Casey devoted his life to raising her in the outdoors, teaching her everything from hunting to cow work and everything in between.

Casey is survived by mom, Sabrina Tarpley Edwards; dad, Mike Smith (Pam); Mallory Smith; and daughter, Harper Smith, brother, Tanner Smith (Kim), sister, Brodi Sims (Payton), brother, Hunter Smith (Mikaela); step brother, Brandon Prather; and step brother, Patrick Prather (Memory); very special Gurney, Willa Row; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and The Spencer Boys.

Casey is preceded in death by stepdad, Dan Edwards; papa, Jim Tarpley, granny, Lorene Tarpley; papa, Durward Smith; granny, Maxine Smith and lifelong friend, Nathan Spencer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cody Kinard, Tallian Thompson, Cory Whisman, Chase Lawson, Drew McBryde, Hunter Smith, Patrick Prather, Brandon Prather, Jake Quine, Tyson Whisman, Tanner Smith, Daniel Howard, Mark Taliaferro, Chad Evans, Kenny Bradford, Payton Sims, Tanner Allen, Bernie Phillips, and Randy Watson.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards the numerous family and friends that have shown up in the last few days.

Having shared many years with Casey from junior high and high school into adulthood, it was always an adventure. His family always welcomed us friends as one of their own. He enjoyed living life.
