Carroll “Wayne” Neff didn’t give up the fight, but he gave out and went to spend eternity with God, family, and friends. He passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the presence of his family at the age of 66.\tHe was born June 8, 1947, in Coleman, Texas, to Bob and Berniece Neff.\tWayne grew up in Coleman, attending schools in Burkett, Talpa Centennial, and Coleman. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior as a young man. On June 9th, 1964, he married his high-school sweetheart, Valeta Nell Gilliam Neff. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June.\tWhile in Coleman, he was employed by Martin Brick Plant and S&H Well Service. In March, 1968, Wayne and Valeta moved to Monahans, Texas, where they resided for 32 years. All three of their children, Dayton, Reed, and Shayla were raised and educated in Monahans.\tIn 1968, he was hired by Pat Ramsey and Pete McDaniel, owners of Taggart Well Service in Monahans, as a floor hand. He worked floors, was a derrick hand, and in a nine-month time period was running his own rig.\tIn July, 1975, he went to work for Davis Kemp, Petco, Armstrong and finally Weatherford. At the time of his death, he was employed by Weatherford as a fishing tool supervisor. He gave Weatherford 39 years in July. When not fishing for tools, he loved to go fishing with his kids and grandkids and retrieving rod and reel thrown in the lake by one of them.\tWayne and Valeta moved to Midland in October of 2000. His memory and legacy is carried on by wife, Valeta, his sons and daughters-in-law, Dayton and Melissa Neff of Odessa, and Reed and Laura Neff of Midland, his daughter and son-in-law Shayla and Tim Awalt of Midland. His grandchildren, Kaytlyn Neff of Lubbock, Baylee Neff of Midland, Timothy Neff of Odessa and Aspen Awalt of Midland. Also survived by sister and brother-in-law Norma and Jackie Kenney of Coleman. Nieces and spouses Darla and Jeff Tibbetts of Coleman, Amy and Michael Loyd also of Coleman, Conda and Mike Lee of Monahans, Darla Cunningham of Crawfordsville, Indiana, nephews and spouses Doug and Tina Hagler of Hedley, Eddie Wayne Greer of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Stephen and Minnie Greer of Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and colleagues.\tWayne was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Rusty Leonard, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Helen Gilliam, and his sister-in-law and husband, Shirley June and Guy Greer.\tA visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Celebration of his life is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th, 2014 at 2:00 PM. It will be held at True-Lite Christian Fellowship Church in Midland with Pastor Jeff Box officiating.\tIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Allison Cancer Center, 400 N.
