Carrol Dean Yater, 78, of Stanton, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Hospice House of Odessa. At Carrol's request there will be a private family service.Carrol was born to John Milton and Nina Gertrude Myrick Yater August 5, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas. He married Lyn Larsen April 6, 1992 in Tarzan, Texas.He graduated from Courtney High School in 1951 and later graduated from Sul Ross University. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 at Fort Shafter in Honolulu, Hawaii. Carrol returned to Stanton and farmed with his father. He served as Martin County Judge from March 9, 1971 to October 27, 1975 and had served on the Stanton Independent School Board. He was also involved in real estate and oil and gas leases. He was a member of First Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Lyn Yater of Stanton; a daughter, Tobie Maldonado and husband, John of Midland; two grandchildren, Aaron and Beale Maldonado; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kyle Yater; and two brothers, J.
