Carolina D. Rivas, 81, of Lenorah, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in an Odessa Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stanton with Monsignor James Plagens, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Stanton. A Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Friday, June 26 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was born on May 23, 1928, in Derby, Texas to Matilde and Ynosencia De Anda.She married Juan Torres Rivas on November 27, 1947 in Tahoka, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2000. Mrs. Rivas and her husband came to Lenorah in 1951 where he farmed. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard and feeding her animals. The thing she enjoyed most of all was her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church. Survivors include six sons, Juan DeAnda and his wife, Irma of Dilley, Albert Rivas and his wife, Denise of Lenorah, Juan Rivas, Jr. of Lenorah, Mario Rivas and Hellen Zanders of Big Spring, Savage Rivas and his wife, Sylvia of Lenorah and Matt Rivas and his wife, Louisa of Midland; seven daughters, Linda Flores and her husband, Eloy of Grand Prairie, Gloria Rivas of Midland, Cresencia Rodriguez of Stanton, Francisca Rivas of Lenorah, Maria Rivas of Tarzan, Carmela Villegas and her husband, Luis of Alice, and Lucy Ramirez and her husband, Doroteo of Alice; 42 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; one brother, Joe De Anda of Lytle; three sisters, Maria Guajardo and Margarita Rodriguez both of Dilley and Lupe Hernandez of O'Donnell.
