Carol Reid, 81, of Midland, TX, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:30am after her battle with Plasmablastic Lymphoma. Visitation is at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday February 7, 2024 at First Baptist Church Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Altus Cemetery in Oklahoma on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
Carol was born on January 11th, 1943 in Altus, OK to Sgt. Leo “TURK” and Minnie B Plew. She graduated from Carlsbad High School, lived in Oklahoma, Vegas, and Georgia before moving to Odessa and then Midland, where she married James M Reid on September 6th, 1970 and they remained in Midland. Carol worked at St Paul Methodist as the Education Director until she retired and became a dedicated member at First Baptist church, volunteering in several capacities. She was also a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, constantly putting her family first and filling her home with our most treasured memories.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Leslie Jones of Monahans and Cindy Payne of Benton, LA, sons-in-law Kelin Jones and Thomas Payne Jr, grandchildren Joshua Jones of Midland, Jared Jones of Fort Worth, Kat Payne of Tulsa, and Thomas Payne of Midland, granddaughter-in-law Grace Jones of Midland, and great-grandchildren Alex, Ryan, and Jack Jones of Midland.
If we listed everyone who we wanted to express gratitude to, we would need to take a two-page spread in the newspaper. Thank you to her community for your continuous support, love, and compassion.
