Carol McClure, 71, of Midland passed away on December 16, 2014. Memorial services will be held at West Kentucky Baptist Church of Midland on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00am with Brother Bob Porterfield officiating.Carol was born on January 7, 1943 in Plainview, Texas to Ernest L. and Mary Dale Matsler. She married her husband, Bennett McClure, on November 23, 1961. Together Bennett and Carol raised 4 sons and a nephew. The family moved to Midland in 1989 and Carol quickly became active in many groups in town. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she volunteered and worked with victims of domestic violence, and assisted her church, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with their auxiliary, as well. Carol loved country and western music, especially when she was able to dance to it with her husband. She loved her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren more than life itself and would do anything for her family. As loving as Carol was, she could also be very stubborn if the situation called for it. She was “good as gold or could be meaner than a junkyard dog” if someone was out of line. Carol had an incredibly huge heart and always wanted to help anyone in need. If someone was hungry or needed a place to stay, Carol would gladly open her doors. Carol was always dependable and will be lovingly remembered by all that knew her.She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Bennett McClure; three sons, Wade McClure, Mat McClure and wife Gloria, and Don McClure and wife Rhonda, all of Midland County; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Matsler, and her son, Ernest Dean McClure. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Legion, www.legion.org.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
