Carol Cook, 60 of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 after a magnificent fight with a rare genetic disorder.
Carol was born on July 8, 1964 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Joe and Lois Langford. She lived on their family farm until she graduated from Elgin High School and then attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Carol graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. While at Texas Tech she met her husband, Kelly David Cook. They married while still in school in 1986 and were inseparable for the rest of their lives. In 1994, Carol left her job with a major bank and helped start KDC Associates with Kelly. Carol served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of both KDC Associates and KDC SiteWorks, and somehow managed to work side by side with Kelly on a daily basis for over 30 years.
Carol was a wonderful mother and her greatest joy was raising her children and watching them grow into outstanding young adults, raising their own families. Carol enjoyed everything about spending time in nature and the outdoors, and made a point of sharing that love with her children. If there was a trout stream, or a lake, a mountain meadow or a golden beach, Carol would take the time to soak in God’s wonders and relish in the moment. She traveled the world with Kelly and never met a beach she didn’t like!
The world knew Carol by her wonderful smile and her ability to light up a room with her personality. She was magnetic. A woman of unmatched faith, Carol was an active member of First Christian Church of Midland, at various times serving as a deacon, elder, the Chair of the Elders, and the Chair of the Board.
Carol is survived by her husband of 38 years Kelly Cook; her daughter Elizabeth Cook Resch and her husband Patrick Hayden Resch; and Carol’s son David Joseph Cook and his wife Jennifer Nicole Cook. She was overjoyed to have two beautiful granddaughters, Hayden Nicole Resch and Elise Caroline Cook.
Carol is preceded in death by her father Joe, mother Lois, and brother Terry Joe Langford.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards countless friends; the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as the staff of Intensive Care Unit 65 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center.
