Carolyn (Carol) Jean Canon, 69, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2020. She was born on August 19, 1951, in Midland, Texas.She was an active member of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Midland. Carol graduated from Texas Tech University in 1973. She taught at the New Mexico School for the Deaf; later, she taught Special Education for Midland Independent School District. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and old westerns. She loved to go to church, and she also loved her dogs. Her family will be forever grateful for the many years during which Carol devoted her life to taking care of her beloved parents, Joe and Verna. Indeed, she was the loyal, loving daughter, who attended to so many of their needs, enabling them to enjoy their later years independently in their home.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Verna Canon and a brother, Patrick Canon.Carol is survived by her daughter, Catherine Verna Hardin and husband Michael of Midland, Texas; a sister, Anne Conrad and husband, Glenn, of Claude, Texas; brothers, Joe Ed and wife, Jo, from Abilene, Texas; Mike and wife, Judy, of Midland, Texas; Gerry and wife, Connie, of Lubbock, Texas; Chris and wife, Becky, of Canyon, Texas; Kem and wife, Jane, of Ajo, Arizona; Tim and wife, Cindy, of Midland, Texas. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at St. Stephens Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rodney White, Pastor officiating. Rosary will be held 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2020 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral & Crematory of Midland.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Verna Holcomb Canon Scholarship Fund at St. Ann’s Catholic Church or to the charity of one’s choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
