Carmen Viasana, 79, of Big Spring, died on Monday, May 15, 2006, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, May 19, 2006 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Torres, Home Hospice Chaplain, officiating.He was born on March 23, 1927, in Tucumcari, New Mexico and married Lupe Renteria in 1951 in Big Spring.As a young man, he worked as a welder with the government in the Civilian Service, building submarines. He came to Big Spring in 1951 and work in the oil field as a floor hand. He was a member of East Fourth Street Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Lupe Renteria of Big Spring; five sons, Eligio "Lee" Viasana, Wallace "Terry" Viasana, Juan "Johnny" Viasana, Carmen Viasana, Jr., and David Viasana all of Big Spring; four daughters, Linda Viasana of Houston, Maria Chairez of Freeport, and Annastasia Viasana and Mary Galan both of Big Spring; three step daughters, Anita DeLeon of Abilene, Christina Hernandez and Lupe Chavarria both of Big Spring; three sisters, Ramona, Antonio and Marika; 37 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
