Carlos Neal Humphrey passed away July 16, 2013, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the funeral home.He was born September 13, 1928 in Wolfe City, Texas, to E. E. and Mayme Higginbotham Humphrey. He married Willene Duncan June 3, 1954 in Greenville, Texas.After graduating from high school in 1946, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon his return he earned a Bachelor of Science and later a Master of Education from East Texas State at Commerce. He taught at Runnels Junior High for 35 years.Carlos was a faithful member of 14th and Main Church of Christ. He made 14 trips to do mission work in Austria, Poland and Scotland. He also traveled in his motorhome to assist the Sojourners working to help churches, children's homes and others. For leisure time, he golfed, hunted, fished and played duplicate bridge.He was a life member of National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association and a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association and American Contract Bridge League.Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.Surviving are his wife, Willene; daughter, Gay Lynch of Midland; son, Neal Humphrey of Ira; grandchildren, Jennifer Humphrey and James Lynch of Midland, and Amber Humphrey of San Angelo; great grandson, Anthony of Midland; brother, Guy Ray Humphrey of Westminster, Colorado; brother-in-law, Dale and Ann Duncan of Rowlett and many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O.
