Rick Denham, 70, of Midland, Texas passed away on Monday, January 1, 2019. Services will be held 3:30PM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Christ Church Anglican, 5501 N. Midkiff Rd in Midland. A reception at the church will follow the service.Rick was born on March 1, 1948 in Augusta, Maine to Harold and Lucy Denham. After graduating from high school, Rick served in the Navy from June 17, 1966 to April 22, 1968. He then served in the Army from December 31, 1968 to July 14, 1972 when he was honorably discharged as a Medical Specialist. He received three Purple Hearts while in the service. Rick was a respiratory therapist and owned a medical supply business.After moving to Texas to help family, Rick met Pat and after three years knowing each other, they were married on July 12, 2003.Rick was able to prove what his mother had told him his entire life, that they were direct decedents of the Pilgrims by documenting all of her research. After three years, he joined the Mayflower Society and became very involved and continued his research. Rick established the West Texas Colony of the Mayflower Society. He then became Governor of the colony. He later was elected Governor of the Texas Mayflower Society and served in that capacity for two years… He ran and was successfully elected from 2014-2017 General Society of Mayflower Decedents Executive Member at Large, which entailed going to Plymouth every three months to attend national meetings. Rick was a charter member of the G.S.M.D. Governor Generals 1620 Club. His brother Denny photographed with a drone the Mayflower Plantation and Rick mapped the directory of the bricks in the Mayflower Society Garden. He was the governor of the Pilgrim Hopkins Heritage Society. He put together a cruise through their travel agency to Bermuda of 54 people to see Pilgrim Hopkins historical sites and presented Bermuda a historical plaque.Rick is survived by his wife, Pat, of Midland, TX. Brothers Denny and his wife Midge of Gray, ME, Gene and his wife Daylene of Wiscasset, ME, Dwight and his wife Dorene of Lincoln, ME. Daughter Noel and Pat Hurley, grandsons Jake and Sam of Lago Vista, TX. Daughter Holley and Bradley Chandler, grandchildren Lauren and Ryan of Midland, TX, Kevin and Caitlin, granddaughters Scarlett and Hazel of Manassas, VA Son Jeffrey and daughter Jenn and their mother Claudia of Crestview, FL. Grandsons Landon and Adam of Clifton Forge, VA. Daughter Lisa and Eric Mcquitty, grandsons Noah and Ajay of Midland, TX. Daughter Chelsey and her husband Kenneth Hansen, great granddaughter Saoirse of Midland, TX.Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Harold Denham.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the General Society of Mayflower Decendents, P.O.
