Chris Hambleton, 70, of Tarzan died Thursday, April 5, 2018 in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church Tarzan. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2018 at the Gilbreath Funeral Home.He was born October 8, 1947 in Corsicana, Texas and married Sue Arterbury December 10, 1976 in Fritch, Texas.Chris served in the United States Navy on the USS Springfield during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later received his Professional Engineering license so he could do consulting work. Chris worked for Phillips Petroleum for four years and for Mobil Oil Company for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed gardening.Survivors include his wife, Sue Hambleton of Tarzan; one son, Philip Hambleton of Stanton; one daughter, Kristyn Sanders and husband, Steven of Tarzan; and four grandchildren, Charlie Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Wolfgang Sanders and Willow Sanders.He was preceded in death by James and Francys Hambleton; and a sister, Stephanie Hambleton.The family suggests memorials to the donor’s favorite charity.Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.
