C. C. " Kovey" Powell, 63, of Stanton, Texas, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, in a San Angelo hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2003 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton with Pastor Roland Boyce of Reedemer Covenant Church in Carrollton, officiating. He was born on August 15, 1940, in San Angelo, Texas and married Nancy Williams. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2001. Kovey was a lifetime resident of Martin County and had worked for T. U. Electric for 38 years before retiring in 1996. He loved fishing, photography, back-packing and being outdoors. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and was a cancer survivor. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and was also a member of Boy Scout troop 69 and a member of the Order Of The Arrow of the Buffalo Trails Council, Boy Scouts Of America. Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Amy and Claude Judd of Carrollton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kay Simpson of Stanton, and Mary and Danny Bellah of Woodson; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy K. and Judy Powell; three grandchildren, Ben and Katie Nielsen and Sarah Judd all of Carrollton, numerous nieces & nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois Powell. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, 2304 W. Wadley Ave., Midland, Texas 79705.
