Burnis Lee Mason of Sand Springs, Texas, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at his residence in Kemah, Texas, were he and Mrs. Mason had just recently relocated to be near their son, daughter-in-law and grandson.Services for Mr. Mason will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Billy Bates, officiatng and Rev. Donita Lee, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.He was born on November 19, 1922 in Cleburne, Texas and married Lida Frances Johnson on April 4, 1946 in Big Spring.Mr. Mason retired from Alon Refinery, previously known as Fina Oil and Chemical and before that as Cosden Refinery, as a lab operator in 1982, after 41 years of service. Burnis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coahoma and served as a board member. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 826, Sand Springs Lions Club and the Big Spring Senior Citizens. Mr. Mason proudly served in the United States Navy for 3 1/2 years before he was medically discharged.Survivors include his wife of the home, Lida Frances Mason; one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Debbie Mason of League City; one grandson, Jeff Mason of League City; one granddog, Martin Mason, who Burnis dearly loved; two sisters, Lyn Nell Ray of Big Spring and Lee Ida Rainey of Austin and several nephews and nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Goldie Mason and one brother, Burton Mason.Burnis was an avid fisherman.
