Bruce Carby, 56, of Stanton, died on Friday, May 8, 2009, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born on June 26, 1952, in Portales, New Mexico and married Mae Houston on September 4, 1971 in Clovis, New Mexico. Bruce came to Stanton in 1978 from Hereford and worked for Wes Tex Telephone Coop for 32 years. He was active with his sons baseball leagues and had served as president of Martin County Little League for several years. He was also active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, was an avid race car driver and raced in short track races in Midland. Bruce loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Mae Carby of Stanton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Allan and Yvonne Carby of Stanton and David Carby of Midland; his father, Elbert Carby of Big Spring; two sisters, Edna Murphy of Clovis, New Mexico and Janice Carby of Portales, New Mexico; one brother, Gerald Carby of Clovis, New Mexico; and five grandchildren, Victoria Carby, John-Allan Carby, Paisley Carby, Kinzey Carby and Kyle Carby.
