Brother Willie Cox, Jr., 61, of Midland, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. Viewing will be held all day Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Lee Street Church of Christ with Brother Gene Collins, officiating. Willie was born March 28, 1951 to Mozella and Willie Cox, Sr. in Memphis, TN. He grew up in Memphis and received a bachelors degree from the Memphis School of Preaching. He received an associates degree in business from Shelby State College in Memphis.Willie was dedicated to the call of Christ and served that call to the fullest. He was the minister for the Green Acres Church of Christ in Osceola, AR for 13 years. He was then the minister for the Parkview Church of Christ in Jackson, MS. He and his family moved to Midland, TX in 2001 and he became the minister for the Northside Church of Christ for 12 years.Willie never met a stranger. He loved to say, You are too blessed to be stressed. He was an excellent counselor. He worked part time as a sales associate at Wal-Mart.Survivors include wife, Renee Cox of Midland; daughter, Carla Lee and husband Ricky of Jonesboro, AR; daughter, Whitney Cox of Jonesboro, AR; god daughter, Sherdonna Bragg of Edinburg, TX; grandchildren, Jordan Lee, Braelen Lee, Kaniya Bonnett, and Zione Scates; sisters, Linda McGowan, Colissa Cox, and Mozella Cox all of Memphis, TN; brothers, Sherman Cox of Greenwood, MS, Gregory Cox of Dallas, TX, and Curtis Cox of Memphis, TN; mother-in-law, Juanita Rodgers of Memphis, TN; 5 sisters-in-law; and 3 brothers-in-law.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mozella and Willie Cox, Sr., 1 sister and 2 brothers.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
