Bowden Hampton, Lt. Col. Ret., 87, of Big Spring, died on Friday, February 25, 2005, in a local hospital. Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.He was born on January 29, 1918 in Paducah, Kentucky and lived in Indiana and Michigan until 1942 when he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps Cadets. He retired as a command pilot with the rank of Lt. Col. from the United States Air Force after 27 years. He served in Germany, Cambodia, Vietnam and Alaska receiving numerous medals, including the Air Medal. He made his home in Midland for a few years and was transfered to Webb Air Force Base in 1963. He retired in December 1968 and lived in Big Spring until his death.He married Monika H. Williams in 1989.He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite in Dallas.Survivors include his wife, Monika H. Hampton; two sons, Jon Allen and Michael Joe; one daughter, Lori Dannete; a sister, June; one step daughter, Marion; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.The family suggests memorials be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., One Hanover Park, 16633 North Dallas Parkway, Suite 600, Addison, Texas 75001.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
