Bobby Ray Rogers, 84, of Midland passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. A memorial service will be held in his honor at First United Methodist Church Glass Chapel on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Macky Pitts, officiating.Bobby was born in Wichita Falls, TX on November 25, 1928 to J.C. Rogers and May Starnes. The youngest of 3 boys, Bobby was always the “little brother” to Cecil and Harold. He played football for the Wichita Falls Coyotes, graduating in 1946, and Midwestern State University graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Accounting. In 1950 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio where he continued to play football for the Army. After being discharged from the Army he was employed by Texaco for 37 years. An athlete all his life, Bobby continued to officiate football for another 21 years. In 2009, Bobby was inducted into the Midwestern State Football Hall of Honor.On August 11, 1956 Bobby married the love of his life, Peggy Thompson, in the First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, TX. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Midland and the Partners Sunday School Class.Bobby leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Peggy Rogers; son, Joe Rogers and wife Sherree; son, Mike Rogers and wife Glenda; grandchildren, Robert Rogers and wife Bonnie of Sache, Texas, Kori Rogers of Midland, Cameron Joiner of San Antonio, Brandon Rogers of San Antonio, Hudson Joiner of Austin; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Evan, of Sache, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association.,
