Bobby J. Barton, 75, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Ector County Cemetery in Odessa. Joseph Gordy, Jr., brother-in-law, will officiate.Bobby was born on September 24, 1929, in Big Spring, TX, to the late John Samuel Barton and Alene (Gurley) Barton. He married Maxine Gordy on October 16, 1954 in Denver City, TX. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952. Employed by Arco for many years, Bobby served as a key person in the start up of the Prudhoe Bay oilfield. He retired in 1987. He was currently on the board of the Permian Basin Oil show. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a wonderful husband, father and brother, who enjoyed life to its fullest. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Midland.Bobby is survived by his wife Maxine, of Midland, a daughter, Linda Kay and husband Craig Madeen of Midland, a son, Robert Allan Barton of Anchorage, Alaska, two grandchildren, Alana Barton and Carrie Anne Madeen, and a brother, Wayne and wife Margaret Barton of Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents.
