Bobby Dell Howell, 67, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, July 24, 2003, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel Big Spring with Dr. Kenneth Patrick, chaplain of Baptist Memorial Center, San Angelo, officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery, Sweetwater at 1:30 PM Monday.He was born on March 28, 1936, in Sweetwater, Texas and married Frances Smithson on January 19, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada.Bobby served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 as an aircraft mechanic. He received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was an Airman 2nd Class and a member of the National Guard. After returning from the service he worked with his uncle in the oilfields of New Mexico. He then went to work as an electrician for Cosden Oil & Chemical for twenty-one years, retiring in 1980. He was disabled from 1982 until his death. He loved working with his hands and in the yard. He loved traveling and being outdoors. He also loved his dogs, \Darling\ and \Paddles\, very much. Bobby enjoyed his Sunday breakfast with his friends, Gene and Tiny and he loved to dance to country and western music at the Stampede. He had been a member of the Sheriff's Posse and the Lions Club. He was a Baptist.Survivors include his wife, Frances Howell of Big Spring; one son & daughter-in-law, Jack and Kathy Smithson of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Lisette and Daniel Patrick of Big Spring and Sherry and Alan Harman of Fleet, Hampshire, United Kingdom; his grandchildren, Jackie Ray Smithson and wife, Farrah, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Michael Smithson and wife, Becky, of Owasso, Oklahoma, Craig Eugene Smithson of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Laurie Harman, Dave Harman, Adam Harman and Harry Harman all of Fleet, Hampshire, United Kingdom, Brittany Price of Big Spring, Heather Templeton Ham and husband, Troy of Arlington, and Tammy Sue Smithson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren; his uncle, Carl Howell of Roswell, New Mexico and several cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Florence Howell; one daughter, Candace Howell and one son, Larry Smithson. The family suggests memorials to the: American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-8, Midland, Texas 79701.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
