Bobby Allen Potts passed away October 17, 2023 at the age of 81. He was born December 31, 1941 in Erick, Oklahoma to Mirl Ida (neé McSpadden) and James Harrison “Bob” Potts. He moved to Texas after his parents’ divorce and lived in Dalhart, Midland and finally Big Spring where he met the love of his life, Alice Kaye (neé Coates). They married October 25, 1958. They moved to Lubbock and later to Littlefield where they had two daughters, Shelley Denise and Staci Renee. He worked for Pioneer Natural Gas / Energas / Atmos for 40 years. He began working with Leon Brooks at Pioneer on the very same day. Bobby worked with long-time friends and coworkers, Ray Cochran and Larry Tyson in Midland. In Littlefield he was involved in the Lions Club and held various offices. In 1981 when he was transferred to Midland, he took on a larger role inside the company but never forgot about giving back to the community. He was an ambassador with Midland Chamber of Commerce’s M-Squad in the late 80s early 90s. He was the first lifetime member. In September of 1988 his wife Alice Kaye lost her battle with cancer and passed away. He continued on raising his youngest daughter on his own. He was lucky enough to find love again and married Vera Adeline (neé Decker).
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and camping was a lifelong passion. He traveled to almost all the 50 United States with Colorado being among his favorites. He was an avid fisherman, member of the local bass club and hunter. He won many tournaments and has collected many trophies throughout his life. He loved playing baseball when younger and even umpired some in his time in Littlefield. He even helped coach his daughter, Shelley’s softball team in the early 80s. He loved playing golf any chance he could get. He prided himself on teaching his daughters to do all of these things. He really loved his Dallas Cowboys and on game day you could always hear his “cheering” even from afar. He loved his animals. He always had at least one dog with him throughout the years. He would feed the neighborhood cats and made sure nothing bad would happen to them. It was never uncommon for him to bring home a duck, chickens or even rabbits. With him, you just never knew.
He is survived by his wife Vera, daughter Shelley and her husband Wally Hudnall, their four boys Gregory, Zachary, Jeffery (fiancée Desireé Valero), and Timothy. His beautiful daughter Staci and her husband, Bobby Neal, their two boys Cameron Scott and Benjamin Neal. His step-daughter Joy and step-son Kenny.
