Bob was born July 10, 1930 in Albany, Ga. the son of James B. Wise and Thelma Jernigan Wise and passed from this life on March 3, 2015.The family moved to Montezuma, Georgia when Bob was in the first grade, and he graduated from Montezuma High in 1947. He attended the Baptist Junior College at Norman Park, Georgia and was drafted into the army in 1951. Bob felt well rewarded for his service because he was stationed at Landstuhl Germany at a novel and nostalgic time to be in Europe. Bob graduated from the University of Georgia in 1955 with a degree in Journalism. He left for West Texas for what he thought would be a temporary situation but remained there for the rest of his life. He loved Texas people and the scenic western states. After his first job at a television station Bob became advertising manager for a large furniture concern in Odessa, Texas where the advertising budget grew to the largest in the area. He loved to tell stories of the time he sponsored programs on local television starring a local singer named Roy Orbison. On Thanksgiving Day 1957 Bob and Beverly Ann Fisher were married in Phillips, Texas. During the early sixties the family moved from Odessa to Midland where they would remain. Always active, Bob managed to accumulate more than 50 additional semester hours of credits since college days. He was a volunteer or served on the board of several church, civic and philanthropic organizations. He was a long time member of Toastmasters and the Midland Genealogical Society.Bob was preceded in death by his parents James Bunyan and Thelma Wise, son Lee Wise, brothers J.B. and Harold Wise and nephew Jim Wise. Bob is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Mary Ann, daughter-in-law Sue, granddaughter Sara and great granddaughter Cayden, and nephew Jay Wise (wife Pat).The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5:00-7:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:00AM at Fairview Cemetery in Midland.In lieu of flowers please give to Christmas in Action, Habitat for Humanity or charity of choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
