Bob Simpson, 68, of Big Spring, died on Monday, April 15, 2002, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Gary Groves, pastor of First Christian Church of Midland, officiating and Rev. Jimmy Watson, pastor of First Christian Church of Big Spring, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on August 9, 1933 in Luther, Texas and married Jackie Marchant on May 10, 1952 in Lovington, New Mexico. Mr. Simpson, the son of Akin E. and Rubye Simpson, was a lifetime resident of Howard County. He had farmed and ranched in north Howard County and worked for Fina Oil Refinery of 39 years, retiring in December 1991. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He had served in the National Guard and was a member and president of the board of Isaiah 58 (Christian Alliance Ministry). Survivors include his wife, Jackie Simpson of Big Spring; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris and Rhonda Simpson and Ricky Simpson all of Big Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Dale Elson of Round Rock; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Delbert and Alma Simpson of Odessa, Harold and Winona Simpson of South Lake, Kay Simpson of Stanton, and Evelyn Simpson of Littlefield; and six grandchildren, Jeff Simpson, Melanie Henderson, Travis Simpson, John Elson, Ginger Simpson and Sara Elson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The family suggests memorials to: Isaiah 58, %First Christian Church, 911 Goliad, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-8, Midland, Texas 79701.
