Bob Horn, 83, of Coahoma, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2012 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.Bob was born April 5, 1929 in Hill County, Texas where he grew up and attended Hubbard High School. He joined the United States Army in 1947, returning to West Texas in 1951, where he started a lifetime career in the oil field. After marrying, he and his family moved to Sweetwater in 1957 with Sinclair Oil Company. In Sweetwater, Bob also farmed and ranched and was a judge at the AJRA rodeo for several years. In 1967 the family moved to Big Spring. Mr. Horn retired as a Production Superintendent with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company in Coahoma in 1984. Upon retirement, Bob contributed his services to the Howard County Tax Board. He remained active for many years in community service through the Masonic Lodge of Coahoma. He was a member and helped build the Central Baptist Church in Elbow where he attended for many years. He is currently a member of Berea Baptist Church in Big Spring. Throughout his life, Bob has been known for his wonderful sense-of-humor, practical jokes, and enduring love for children and a devotion to his friends and family.Survivors include one son, Darrell Horn and wife, Priscilla of Bedford; one daughter, Lynelle Thomas and husband, Charlie of Big Spring; three grandsons, Travis, Blake, and Dylan Thomas; two granddaughters, Rachel Gardner and Sarah West; two great grandchildren Caden and Presleigh West; and one sister, Carmelita Clark. He was preceded in death by one brother Elwin Horn.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Our Adult Sunday School Class is committed to praying for those who are grieving. Please accept our sincere sympathy in your loss and be assured of the prayers of the members of our class.

I have known Bob for over 35 yrs. He always left a bright spot wherever he stopped by to visit. He was just here last Thursday, saying he wasn't feeling very well that day. Mr. Horn will be greatly missed! He shared many stories with me at the City Hall in Coahoma. There was no one like him and never will be!I'm so sorry for your loss!

Darrell, Lynelle and Family. Our hearts are broken to hear about your Dad. He was a great friend to both of us. He loved to stop in and check on Daddy and tell old oil patch stories etc. He was ONE OF A KIND! I called Daddy tonight and told him over the phone and he was upset, but later he said Well, I bet Bob is riding old Streak all over heaven tonight. I am sure he is. Our prayers are with you all. Please accept my condolences. I've known Bob since I was a kid in Sweetwater. He was a friend of my dad, Leo Neitzler, and my uncle Eddie Neitzler who both thought the world of Bob. I wish I could attend the service today but I didn't see the notice in the Abilene paper until 10:30. He was one of the good ones.Tony

Carmelita, Darrell and Lynelle....I am so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. What a wonderful man he was. It was always a pleasure hearing his tales delivered in a manner that only he could do. A true Texan through and through. Good-hearted, down to earth with a big dose of practical sense and practical joker. We could all learn a thing or two from him and he will surely missed. We met Bob ,when he moved next to us in coahoma, from the start,he was such an interesting person to talk to,we grew to love him as if he were family,well in our hearts he was, you will be greatly missed Bob! My condolences to the family.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Bob was a wonderful person and the source of many good times and memories over the years. When my daughter was very young, Bob convinced her that her playhouse with a loft, built by her dad, needed an elevator. Having lunch one day in a local steak house with my husband, Bob came by the table and asked me to pull a joke on a fellow worker of his, by acting like I knew him. Before moving to Coahoma, he rented one of my houses. Always a gentleman and one of those people that just made you feel good to be around him. God bless and comfort each one of you.
