God called his son, Blake Estevan Avila, home on July 28, 2018 at the age of 23. Blake was born on May 4, 1995 to Rodney Avila and Cindy Costilla Avila. Blake grew up enjoying sports, his favorite being football. He played GMFL and later played for Alamo Jr High and Lee High School. Throughout school, he was a great protector of his friends and his little brother. Blake graduated from Lee High School in 2014. He went on to work with his father as a welder helper. He wanted to learn the trade and become a welder like his dad.Blake enjoyed barbeques, listening to his music loud and gathering with his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest. He always greeted everyone with his great smile and a huge bear hug. He had the ability to make everyone feel special and his positive attitude was so contagious. He was kind and so big hearted that there was nothing Blake wouldn’t do for his family or friends. His personality was so big that people were drawn to him and he encouraged everyone that knew him.He is survived by his parents, Rodney and Cindy Avila; brother, Keith Avila; grandmother, Meldy Costilla; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Gilbert Costilla and grandparents, Marcelino and Manuela Avila.Pallbearers will be Keith Logan Avila, Jonathon Cruz Hernandez, Roy Avila Jr, Juaquin Arturo Corella, Robert Jay Jimenez, Koby John Rains, Phil Leal, and Manuel Carrasco. Honorary pallbearer is Andres Hernandez.Viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. A holy rosary is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
