Billy Lynn \Bill\ Hipp, was born October 18, 1938 in Sweetwater, Texas to Vera and N.M. Hipp. He joined his Heavenly Father May 29, 2013 at the age of 74 years.Billy moved with his family to Big Spring at the age of 5 and attended Big Spring Schools. He married his childhood sweetheart, Darlene (Parker) Hipp February 17, 1955. The celebrated 58 years together this year. To this union was born three children, Gary of Coahoma, Darla of Coahoma and Ronnie and wife, Joan of Sand Springs. There are nine beautiful grandchildren, Krystal Porter and husband, Jacob, Riley Hipp and wife, April, Rebecca Choate, Carmen Collier and husband, Jeremy, Amber Holguin and husband, Gordy, Travis Hipp and wife, Paige, Randall Hipp and wife, Tasha, Johnathan Hipp and Valarie Estill. Billy has 14 great grandchildren – the apple of his eye – Tavyn, Ashlyn, Dominic, Paislie, Addison, KimberLynn, Trevor, Alex, Allie, Samuel, Chloe, Trayce, Ainslee and baby Porter due in December. He is also survived by one brother, Jackie Hipp of Massachusetts; one very special uncle, Albert Bullard of Stephenville; one sister-in-law, Linda Clack and husband, Bob of Hobbs, New Mexico; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and N.M. Hipp; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carl and Mae Parker; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.Billy and Darlene first began their life journey in Midland, Texas. Billy worked for MidWest Glass for 10 years, after which he opened his own cabinet shop. Billy was a top-notch craftsman and could make anything, turning out beautiful cabinets and furniture. In 1968 the couple returned to Big Spring to be near both sets of parents. Billy then went to work for Western Glass and in 1976 he opened Quality Glass and Mirror which he continued to own. Billy was a fine Christian man and walked daily with the Lord. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years, having been ordained as a deacon February 27, 1983.His favorite pastimes included restoring his 1930 Ford \Model A\ from the ground up, starting out with boxes of rusty parts. He delighted in driving it with his sons and grandsons during the July 4th Parade in Coahoma. Billy also loved the outdoors; raising cows and enjoying the new calves up until the recent drought. Most of all Billy loved and enjoyed his family. What a legacy he leaves behind.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Herb McPherson, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
