Billy Joe Dallas, 71, of Midland, passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2019 surrounded by his family. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00AM at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home in Lovington, NM. Billy was born on November 4, 1947 to Sammie and Jabez Dallas in Portales, NM. Billy graduated Lovington High School class of 65’. He spent most of his years in Lovington, New Mexico and loved the small town life. He was a true blue Lovington Wildcat and spent several years as a sports writer for the Lovington Leader and Hobbs News Sun. Just days before he passed he was asked what his favorite sports team was and he smiled ear to ear and said “Lovington Wildcats.” Billy enjoyed playing basketball and was a Golden Glove boxer in his younger days. He joined the military and was in the US Army National Guard. Billy was quite the entertainer and never passed up a chance to sing karaoke to Johnny Cash. He enjoyed spending time with his grad children and great grand children and never passed up a moment to watch them play sports. Billy had a very giving heart and touched many of our lives. He is survived by sister Lee Ann and husband Dub Brown of Midland, Two Daughters Lori Partlow and Bunni Allred of Midland, six grand children and 3 great grand children and one on the way. He is preceded in death by Mother Sammie Dallas, Father Jabez Dallas, and Brother Jack Dallas.
