Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
Born on May 26, 1950, in Lorraine, Texas, Billy was the son of William (Bill) and Lucille (Moore) King, and grew up in west Texas learning the lessons of hard work and integrity that defined his journey throughout his life. He married Ginger LaRue on April 1,1993 in Las Vegas. He was an accomplished athlete during his years at Coahoma High School earning all-state football his junior and senior year and all-state basketball his junior and senior year. He was also an accomplished athlete at Howard College where he played basketball. He never missed an opportunity to teach the lessons of good sportsmanship and friendship to those he encountered both on and off the field or court. He was a carpenter for 8 years and built bowling alleys with his dad. In 1976, he became a master Electrician and helped so many provide for their families. Billy loved his work and never met a stranger, literally would give the shirt off his back. He was a successful businessman and was very well respected in the oil and gas industry. He loved to hunt, fish and tend to his animals. He was known as “Paw Paw” to his grand kids and taught them to eat cake “like a dog”. He would make sure that everyone was fed. He was also a believer in doing the right thing, betting on the underdog, and served as a father figure and mentor to many extended family and friends throughout the years. He loved working and never wanted to retire.
Billy is survived by his wife, Ginger King, and five children: Amy King Lowe and husband Rob, Vanessa King Behrends and husband Rich, Paige King Hipp and husband Travis, Isaac King and wife Kerry and Zack King; thirteen grandchildren: Tristan and Tyler Lowe, Taylor Mendez, Angelina, Levi and Sevanna Arista and Tavyn, Paislie, Trevor, Trayce and Tobyn Hipp, and Brentlee and Kimber King; and his sisters: Rose Thomas and Judy Thomas and husband Darren, all of whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his father William and mother Lucille King and a granddaughter Isabelle King. Billy was our hero and will be greatly missed by all who were touched by his love, generosity and the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
