Billy (Bill) Earl Wells, 78, of Midland, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on January 19, 2025. Bill was born on January 23, 1947 in San Angelo, Texas, to Carl Carson Wells and Louise (Wells) Roach.
While we are sad to have lost our most beloved Dad and Papa, his unwavering faith in God and boundless love for his children and grandchildren shaped us all. He was a faithful Christian always supporting his church, met no stranger, loved deeply and had a generous and giving heart. He was a man who would most definitely give you the shirt off his back.
Bill graduated High School in San Angelo, Texas. He was a roustabout for many years before becoming supply store manager for Don-Nan Pump and Supply. He worked for Don-Nan, and enjoyed getting up early for work every day, before retiring at the age of 72, as Warehouse and Inventory Manager.
When he was not working, Bill enjoyed mastering his giant smoke pit, growing a garden, fishing, watching sports and playing poker with his family. He has smoked hundreds of briskets and gifted them to his family, friends and co-workers.
Bill received a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2016 and was treated at MD Anderson in Houston from 2016 – 2024. He would never fly, so the long drives with his daughters were turned into traveling adventures. They shared stories, found new places for a good meal and made time to go fishing. They will cherish making so many special memories during those many years.
Bill is survived by wife Katheryn Ann Wells, daughter Karla Ann Collins and husband Jody Collins, daughter Kathy Marie Bruehl and husband Mark Bruehl, son Kevin Glen Wells, granddaughter Amanda Fay Stephens, granddaughter Kayle Lee Hill and husband Steve Hill, grandson Jacob Michael Stephens and wife Erica Stephens, grandson William Andrew Fox and wife Octovia Fox, granddaughter Kimberlea Louise Benson and husband Alex Benson, granddaughter Jessica Reeder, grandson William Zachery Carder, granddaughter Lyndsey Ann Carder, granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Bruehl, great-grandson Julius Perry, great-granddaughter Marie Hill, great-granddaughter Almeda Kate (Ally) King, great-grandson Trey Hill, great-granddaughter Melina Hufford, great-granddaughter Bailey Stephens and great-grandson Ian Stephens, sister Mary Louise Webb, sister-in-law Annette Wells, sister Stella Marie Swanson and husband Jackie Swanson, sister Kathy Lynn Kirby and husband Dennis Kirby, brother Gary Lane Wells and wife Jacque Wells, sister Loraine Patricia Wells, sister Naomi Divine Nichols and husband Jeffrey Nichols, sister Connie Elaine Smith and husband Dean Smith, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
