Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 28, 2016 at the funeral home.Billie was born September 24, (and she would say the year doesn't matter), in Roscoe County, Texas. Through the course of many travels, she moved with her Mom and Dad, Robert and Dollie (McDonald) Stevens, to Big Spring. She attended Big Spring High School where she played volleyball and met the love of her life- Cotton Mize. Of course, the courtship led to a marriage that lasted over 69 years.Billie was employed at the VA Hospital as a medical records supervisor for 35 years. Always diligent, encompassing responsibility, and observing ethical standards; she received many awards. She was actively involved with the Nazarene Church as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, board member, WMS secretary, enjoyed visiting the sick, elderly, widowed, and provided financial support for many needy children receiving mother of the year awards a few times. She was truly generous, thoughtful, loving, and caring.Billie exhibited an enduring perseverance, courage and fortitude with her devastating and debilitating battle with Dementia. She never waivered in her faith and commitment to serving the Lord. She was the glue that held our family together. Billie was generous and sacrificial in all areas, and always considered others above herself. She continued to demonstrate compassion, care and concern for others, as she endured her own daily struggles. Although her memory failed on various occasions, she reflected many fond memories within her heart.Billie's living legacy of love, honesty, integrity, and responsibility will be portrayed though her children, Brenda, Carol, and Johnny; her grandchildren, Joie Marie, Clayton, Barachel, Jared, Justin, and Jenna; and also her four great grandchildren, Saydee, Abbee, Callan, and Kamdyn.Billie was also preceded in death by her brother, Jarvey Stephens; and her sister, Elois Palmer. The family wishes to express much appreciation to family, friends, employees, church members, hospital staff, Hospice care givers, and others who have portrayed compassion to our family and most of all to Billie as she completed her journey. Finally she is at home, at peace, and resting in the arms of Jesus. The family suggests memorials to First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 S.Lancaster, Big Spring, Texas 79720.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
