Billie Jones Ward

Billie Jones Ward of Midland, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Midland, Texas. Viewing will be from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. A graveside service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Resthaven North in Midland, Texas.

Billie was born on October 9, 1937, in Magee, Mississippi to James and Martha Jones. She met the love of her life, Ed Ward in Rankin, Teas, and they were married on July 17, 1953. Billie and Ed were very young when they married. Billie was 15 and Ed was 16 years old. They grew up together and grew closer throughout the years. Ed and Billie lived in several cities in the early years before settling in Midland where they raised their three children, Randell Ward, Pam Chesnut and Traci Conner.

Billie worked for many years as a bookkeeper for “M” System Food Stores and finished her working career at Community National Bank. Billie had many talents. She loved to sing, and she sang for many years at Cotton Flat Baptist Church. She loved to paint on canvas and loved painting ceramics.

Billie was a Christian and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Billie is survived by her son, Randell Ward (Jana) of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Traci Conner of Midland; sister, Pat Ruthven of Austin; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Billie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed, and her daughter, Pam Chesnut.

The family would like to thank the management and staff of Orchard Park of the Permian Basin for the love and care given to our mother as well as her constant companion, Britches. Thank you also to Hospice of Midland and Odessa and Crossland Care, LLC for the great care you provided. A very special thank you to Kimberly Ventura for your kind and compassionate care both at Orchard Park and Brookdale of Midland.

We love you, Mom! We know dad was waiting for you with outstretched arms!
