Billie Evelyn Herzog, 78, of Stanton, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Stanton with Rev. Daniel Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stanton. The family will receive friends Friday, August 31, 2007 from 7 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Billie Evelyn, the daughter of Tant and Viola (Bill) Lindsay was born on May 19, 1929, in Tarzan, Texas and married George Herzog on February 11, 1949 in Odessa, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1993. She was a lifetime resident of Martin County and went to school at Courtney, moving to Stanton her Junior year and graduating from Stanton High School. She attended Sul Ross University and Texas Tech University. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Karl And Cathy Herzog of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karolyn Porter of Midland, Georgeann and Steve Walton of Stanton; 4 grandchildren, Greg Herzog of Austin, Chris Herzog of San Angelo, Stephanie Walton of Midland, and Daniel Porter of Abilene; 2 great grandchildren, Matthew Harris and Owen Tant Herzog, both of San Angelo. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William Lee Lindsay and one sister, Margaret Ann Lindsay. The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1193, Stanton, Texas 79782 or the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1325, Stanton, Texas 79782 or the Evergreen Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1086, Stanton, Texas 79782.
