Billie Shields Bickley, 86, of Pecos, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, in Midland. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 31, 2007, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Pecos with Father Charles McIntyre officiating.Billie was born on October 17, 1920, in Fort Worth to Clarence Earl Shields and Metta Lee Thomas Shields. She graduated from Abilene High School and McMurray College in Abilene. Billie married William Robert "Bob" Bickley on June 18, 1941, in Abilene. They moved to Pecos in 1948. She taught school from 1964-1984 in Pecos and received Teacher of the Year award. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teacher's Association, an avid bird watcher, artist, poet, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Billie was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Pecos.Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Martee and Bob Stuart of Midland; daughter, Linda Hayes of El Paso; daughter and son-in-law, Betsey and Ken Slack of Dallas; and 6 grandchildren, David Lumpkin and wife Adriana, Lee Slack, Will Slack, Julie Davis and husband Don, Matthew Perez, and Jennifer Perez. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and her beloved housekeeper of 38 years, Ramona Salcido.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 66 years, who passed away on April 29, 2007.
