Bill Norris, 96, of Abilene, formerly of Big Spring, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2024. He will lie in state Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 9:00am until 2:00pm with the family receiving friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Graveside services with Naval Honors will follow at 2:30 pm at Trinity Memorial Park.

Bill was born November 1, 1927 in Lamesa, Texas to parents Charlie Bernard Norris and Bessie Beatrice (Davis) Norris. He had been a resident of Big Spring since 1960 and worked as a Service Tech for Energas for 28 years when he retired. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy and received a World War II Victory Medal. He married Annie Lucille Carter June 9, 1950 in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a Deacon at Midway Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his daughter Rhonda Maltsberger, husband Gary; grandson Nicholas Reagan and wife Britney and three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Bryson and Addyson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters, Charlyne Wyatt and Owita Norris.

Rhonda and family. I am sorry for your loss, however, I know he was ready to see the love of his life! Bill and Lu were always some of our very favorite people and we loved them so much. Rhonda and Gary thank you for sharing Uncle Bill with us all. There is so many memories. Uncle Bill showed us so much love and how a Godly man lives. I will miss him for ever but looking forward to seeing him on the other side. As he would say "Reveille". Love to you'll June

Mr. Bill was a blessing to me as a nurse. His aides loved him very much. His daughter Ronda became family. He touched many with his kindness and stories, he will definitely be missed. God's grace to your family, Ronda, you are loved. Although I know deeply there really are no words to comfort you, I thank you for sharing him with us. Love, Gigi.

Sorry to hear of Bills passing. I worked with Bill at the gas company also was a neighbor while he lived in Big Spring. Condolences to Rhonda and family. Rest in peace old friend.
