Beverly Fern Lovelace Alexander, 89, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007, in a local hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Shane Brue, pastor, officiating.Beverly Fern Alexander was born on November 18, 1917, in Fargo, Texas to William Bryan and Nell McGill Lovelace. She married Jack Alexander on July 7, 1940 in Colorado City and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2001.She graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Texas State College for Women in Denton in 1939 and received her Masters Degree from Texas Tech University in 1971. She taught for 25 years in Colorado City and Big Spring and was honored as the State Homemaking Teacher of the Year in 1980 and as the Doan's Woman of the Year in Wilbarger County in 2002. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Fern was active in the First United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers, Kiwanis Club, 1948 Hyperion Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a charter member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Logsdon and husband, Buddy of Memphis and Sherri Key and husband, Dr. John of Big Spring; four sons, Ray Alexander and wife, Norma of Big Spring, Don Alexander and wife, Helen of Decatur, Mark Alexander of Arlington, and Mike Alexander and wife, Kathleen of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Doris Cowling and husband, Ben of Dallas and a sister-in-law, Janie Alexander of Abilene. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Alexandra Whitehead.The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Drawer 1229, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to a favorite charity.The family will be at the home of Dr. John and Sherri Key at 801 Scott in Big Spring.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
