Bettye Jo Ryan passed from this world Tuesday, August 8, 2023. She was born on February 21, 1925 in western Parker County near Fort Worth, Texas. She and her family moved to Littlefield, Texas in 1928. The family owned and farmed two farms west of Littlefield.
Bettye along with her brothers and sisters picked their share of cotton in the fields as needed. She graduated from Littlefield High School in 1942. She was a cheerleader and made many friends at Littlefield High School.
Later Bettye moved to Lubbock, Texas and worked as a receptionist over twenty five years for South Plains Electric Company. She also worked several years before retiring for Producers Grain Corporation. Upon retirement she and her husband, O’Neil, moved to Midland, Texas to be closer to their son Dan and Tina and family.
Bettye is survived by son Dan Swanner and wife Tina of Midland; granddaughter Natalie Swanner of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren C.J. Swanner of San Angelo and Tenille Swanner of Byars, OK. She is preceded in death by husband O’Neil Ryan, son Jim Swanner, and grandsons Cole Swanner and Clark Swanner.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Cimmaron House Retirement Facility of Midland and Hospice of Midland.
