Betty Thomas, 92, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Big Spring with Rev. Pat Ray, pastor of Prairie View Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born October 25, 1924 in Howard County, Texas to Shirley and Ethel Fryar, and married R. C. Thomas December 20, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death December 26, 1995.Betty was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. She was a homemaker and was a longtime member of the Prairie View Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Baptist Women's Organization, the Friendship Club, the Hyperion Club and the Master Gardeners.Survivors include four daughters, Sherry Newton of Big Spring, Kendra Thomas of Austin, Anne Irving and husband, Eddie of Ft. Worth and Karen Leavitt and husband, Randy of Austin; one son, Kirk Thomas of Big Spring; one brother, Martin Fryar and wife, Lanita of Big Spring; eleven grandchildren, Kelly Tucker and husband, Bobby Joe, Gregg Newton and wife, Tracy, Zach Thomas, Avery Brown and husband, Jeremy, Grant Irving and wife, Katie, Joshua Irving and wife, Kaki, Collin Irving, Carley Leavitt, Kinsey Leavitt, Cade Leavitt and Randi Leigh Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Falon Newton, Granger Newton, Hannah Tucker, Turbo Tucker, and Rachel Williams and husband, Bo.She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Thomas; one brother, Billy Fryar; and a son-in-law, Marion Newton.The family wishes to thank Dora Lozano for the special care given to Betty.The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice, 111 E. 7th St., Suite A, Big Spring, Texas or to a charity of choice.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
