Betty Lou Smith Miller, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Big Spring, died Monday, August 11th, 2014 in Conroe. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.She was born May 10th, 1932 in Mitchell County, Texas to Walter E. Smith and Lula Mae Slaton. Betty married Richard Miller November 9th, 1953 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.She attended Westbrook Schools and Hardin Simmons University. Baptized in the Baptist Church, Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Big Spring.Betty and Richard had two children: Richard Ward, and Susan Denise. They lived in the Driver camp south of Midland while Richard worked for El Paso Natural Gas, before settling in Crane where their children attended high school. Richard and Betty moved to Big Spring in 1979 after Richard retired from El Paso. After both her children settled in the Woodlands area, Betty moved to Conroe in 2007 to be closer to her family.Betty was a homemaker all of her adult life, a wonderful cook and seamstress, and a person who loved everyone. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She was a devoted Christian who has now gone home to be with her Lord.She is survived by her son, Richard Ward Miller of The Woodlands; her daughter, Susan Denise Weber and son-in-law, Steve of The Woodlands; her granddaughter, Caitlyn of Houston; her sister, Vestal Marshall of Big Spring; her brother, W.E. Smith, Jr. and sister-in-law, Bobbie of Fort Worth; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Richard.Memorials can be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children; the Salvation Army, or to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
