Betty Marie Locklar, 93 of Midland, Texas passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022. Betty was born in Van Zandt County, Texas on January 31, 1929, to B. W. Beard and Gatie Westbrook. At an early age Betty moved to Sweetwater, Texas and in 1943 moved to Midland, Texas, where she met and married a real cowboy Ernest Locklar in April 1947.
Betty was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a two-time President of Midland Porcelain Arts. She loved to paint on china and did so for over 50 years. Later in life she loved to crochet and to teach others. Betty was a loving mother to three sons, Gary, James and Kirby.
Betty is survived by sons, James (Sheryll) and Kirby (Tara); granddaughters, Kelly, Christine, Amanda and Candice; grandson, Anton; eight great grandkids and one great great grandson. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Ernest, brother Billy Paul, parents B.W. and Gatie, and son Gary.
Her family would like to thank all her friends that would stop by and visit her. She appreciated you more than you will ever know. Special thanks to Rosa who helped her for more than 30 years, and to her caregivers over the last few months, Mary, Astrid, Hope, Imelda, Selena and Reina.
Her wishes were to be cremated and to be laid to rest between her husband, Ernest and son Gary, with no formal service.
