Our dear mother Betty L. McDonald was called back to the Lord on July 1, 2023, at the age of 85. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Abilene, TX.
She was predeceased by her parents, Kim William Long and Vallie Mae (Shugart) Long, her siblings Geraldine Stroud, Ethel Lue ‘Peggy’ Ballard, Kimmie Long, Clairese Hale, her daughter Brenda (Kontos) Haskins and grandson Deven Haskins-Unruh and is survived by her daughter Linda Fenwick of Abilene, TX and son Mark Kontos of Mequon, WI and one other estranged son along with 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Betty was a very caring mother who loved her children. She put herself through nursing school while raising four children as a single mother and worked many years as an RN throughout the Abilene area. Of the many accolades she deserves her generosity to family and friends stands out. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, TX on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
